Hello my name is Barry McCarthy and I'm
the programme director for the Information Management for Business undergraduate
degree programme. The idea behind the programme is that we prepare our students
for the world of work therefore the programme particularly focuses upon making
our undergraduates both future-proof and future-ready. When it comes to
developments in terms of business and management, artificial intelligence is
what it's all about at the moment and the impact it has upon business. What
we're doing with our students is giving them the tools to appreciate how that
impact will take place where it takes place and what the future potentially
holds for them. The world of work today requires undergraduates that have an
appreciation of how technology impacts upon business and the wider environment
within which it operates. What the programme does is bring all of these
elements together. As an example, we run a scenario week for our new year one
students after their exams the last scenario was based around the future of
transport in London and this was a direct result of the recently published
London merge transport strategy and we asked our students to have a look at the
detail and come up with some novel and innovative ideas that would help towards
achieving the strategic outcomes the week included guest speakers from
industry coming along to share their views and inform the debate the
programme is very closely linked to industry and was in fact initially
developed with industry input it's through this input along with knowledge
of cutting edge technology and the part it plays in business which makes
Information Management for Business one of the most relevant undergraduate
programmess on offer today.

I do however want to stress it's not a computer
science programme, but rather how technology impacts upon business..
