how's it going everybody I'm Nikki delventhal and this is my dog camper dalvinthal we lived in a Prius full time for three years but now we're in a 4×4 Sprinter and we're here to take you along on the Wild Ride so fasten up your seat belts and let's have some fun don't forget if you like what you see like subscribe comment share with your friends and turn on notifications camper and I would be so thankful my goodness I'm so lucky I get to wake up to this face every day oh that feels good huh oh a little condensation huh I can't see anything oh man you guys today is gonna get weird we are gonna answer some questions that we have never answered before why am I doing this so I took to Instagram and patreon and I asked you guys ask me some questions anything you want to know that you don't already know and I'm gonna answer that in a video and uh regret it but first before we get started we need to take a little camper boy outside and make some coffee so let's go foreign [Music] happy boy you guys look at these views breakfast time Camper's been having some tummy problems so we're just doing a little chicken rice the first question that I got that's a really fun one uh kind of terrifying is what was your worst date while living in a car so let's start with a really light-hearted funny kind of tragic story oh man you guys ready for this one uh so do you guys remember about a year ago when I tore my Meniscus and I got stuck on my friend's couch for 10 days plot twist that was a disaster first date um I had been talking to this guy for a little while and I was really excited to just get out and kind of meet them in person uh and long story short we go skiing and boom tear my Meniscus can't walk need to get a doctor's appointment in the process of waiting for that doctor's appointment it starts dumping and dumping and dumping snow uh I can't drive because I hurt my right leg and uh the person was not the person for me let's just say I grabbed some chains for the Prius to get through the snow wrapped up my right leg threw it on the passenger seat got my left leg and I got the heck out of there as fast as I could and never looked back oh shoot we gotta do some dishes to make our coffee yes I need a kettle I know and that will bring us to our next question um my preferences are dating men I am straight and yes I would love to be in a relationship I just haven't met the right person that I want to be in a relationship with at the moment also a lot of you guys have asked me have I been in a relationship since I moved into my car over three years ago and the answer is yes there was someone I was seriously dating and I actually would travel to that area and go to see them every once in a while as it was first developing and then over the summer we traveled together for about two months how I would make that work is I would see them for a few days and then I would go off for an entire week on my own that person wasn't the right person for me but it was a really beautiful time and I guess going on with the relationship and growth idea here is kids I do think that I would like a family and kids one day I at least want the option I mean I just think about how obsessed I am with my dog and I just could you imagine having a little mini person that you just get to teach about the world um just watch them grow up and I think about my relationship with my parents and I think it would be really wonderful to have that when I'm older yeah so here's your answers on that let's drink some coffee [Music] you can't change out of pajamas until after you have coffee right I do try to get a little good morning because like even if you're in a bad mood if you're dancing you're happy can't we go and dance with me I feel like I'm like jungle dancing half decaf half regular I forgot the most important part today we're doing a little happy happy all right next up on my extensive list of questions how about a basic everyone wants to know my age and my height I am 34 years old and I am five eight I feel like I'm in a casting you know let's nip one thing in the bud only fans nope never gonna happen sorry friends it's just not my style okay moving on why did you start traveling a car and how did you decide to start YouTube uh those two kind of go hand in hand so if you watched my video called why I live in a Prius um you already know a lot about my background but I'll give you a quick uh Cliff Notes version one thing about me is I've always been someone who goes the non-conventional route and I follow my dreams and my passions I'm very motivated by what makes me happy so I graduated high school when I was 17 and I became a hair stylist I worked my way up became a celebrity hair stylist found I didn't like it anymore so from there I became a professional cheerleader for the New York Jets that lasted a few years but if you know anything about the NFL and cheerleading it does not make money it is a passion project a passion job also it was very bad for my mental state needing to make weight to be on the field I got benched my first three games for being too heavy at the time I was like seven percent body fat so it was just just not a good environment for me so uh we left cheerleading and I continued my modeling career so at the time I had just started modeling with Willamina models I knew I wanted to be a model so I went into New York City I got an apartment uh with four other people it was wild uh and I signed with them three weeks later it was a really beautiful career but like cheerleading it was really really bad for my mentality I had a really really bad eating disorder multiple Eating Disorders bulimia anorexia exercise bulimia diuretic abuse depending on what clients needed that day you know one day I was shooting with Adidas and I had to be this strong built person who could really move and do a lot of things or maybe I had to do CrossFit but then the next day um I was doing runway for Gap and Vogue or something like that so it was a lot of body manipulation and a lot of um mental stress So eventually I became strong enough to leave that passion to become a better me and I became a tour guide for kids and that's where my love of travel came about um so I joined a company called travel for teens where I started taking groups of teenagers between the age of 12 and maybe like 1920 all over the world and that job took me to I think like almost 30 different countries it was wild and that's where my love of travel really flourished and I realized I was thriving and I was healing a few years later I completely got over my eating disorder which is like totally unheard of uh and I started working with other careers I started doing odd jobs uh everything from banquet serving to liquor serving to working as a soul cycle instructor or I was working at ride in Houston a lot of Fitness stuff I was basically dumping into every type of career I could and get any type of income I could and um that's when I moved into my car was about three three and a half years ago the person I was living with uh they were handicapped and this is kind of when like you know pandemic era just was getting started knowing what was going on so I couldn't go back into that apartment and um you know I was in a weird time in my life too where I knew I needed to change so it was like the perfect opportunity uh I'm one of those people who actually wanted to live in a car for a long time like I'm talking like a decade it's been a dream of mine to travel that way and I had a Prius so I hopped in my Prius and that is why I moved into my car but at the time I didn't really have a job I was doing those odd jobs uh luckily I've always been really good at money management and I was able to save so I wasn't stressed over that next year figuring it out and about a year living in my car I met a YouTuber his name was Paul the bread trucker and he was doing a live stream and I was like wait you make money doing this and him and his girlfriend Ellie were like why aren't you on social media why aren't you making videos you can make this a job that next week I went to my cousin's house and I ripped out all my seats in my car because I wanted to upgrade I was like you know I'm living in my car I need to figure this out let's make it comfy and I took out my camera thinking of them and I made my first video I'm so thankful for them planting the seed and I am so thankful for all of you watching this and caring about me and camper and coming on adventures with us it's like a life-changing thing you guys have changed my life I'm gonna cry thank you you guys literally changed my life so I mean we have an hour charity now next episode we're going to help some dogs and like that's all because of you guys you've made my dreams come true I can help people financially I can live the life I want I'm so lucky okay I'll be right back no maybe I'll just let you know let's just sit in it let's sit in this happy moment I'm gonna get changed up real quick and uh freshen up a little bit all right yes I film with my phone I do have a lot of clothes I just like constantly wear the exact same things because I don't have a good sense of style ready for the day oh and still on the topic of travel a lot of you guys asked if I would go International with my van or vehicle answer is yes I have been to more than 50 countries uh so I'm very very comfortable with international travel and I think it would be really cool to do it slowly in a van or a car least favorite thing on the road when places are trashed so uh leave no traits ethics if you don't know what that is go to leavenotrace.org and read up on it don't go outside until you have also crazy drivers like honestly a rig like this with a bunch of stuff in it or even in the Prius I probably max speed at like 50 miles an hour okay now a favorite thing about being on the road um I found camper that way and I wouldn't have found him otherwise definitely the people I meet God I could meet people anywhere I go I feel like I'm a very like extroverted introvert like I could have fun in a cardboard box I could talk to anybody uh but I also like being alone so it's like this is a perfect lifestyle for me in that aspect speaking of people you meet we just got a visitor this is the best part of traveling the People You Meet usually camper is the one who uh who gets us introduced when did you guys get here from Germany uh last uh Saturday yeah how long are you guys here for oh when will you and how are you guys liking the USA [Music] have a really safe travels look at that we met amazing people from Germany they have such a great story that is the best part of living in a car all right let's go for a walk with the fact that people randomly show up at a camp spot that could bring up the up that I've gotten a lot safety issues uh I have one story of some really scary stuff and then one story when I felt really unsafe which one first the one where I didn't feel safe so all the locations I feel like kind of meshed together but I remember I was at a rest stop and I was sleeping there for the night and I think one of the reasons that I have been so successful in having very very safe experiences is that I'm hyper aware of everywhere I go I look at my surroundings I see who's there I see what's going on and I got to this rest stop and I noticed this same truck just kept circling the rest stop it was just very weird like it just rubbed me the wrong way I didn't feel right so I just kept an eye on him and then he started getting in and out of the car uh he was just acting so drunk and he was like walking over coming back there were a couple other cars coming over too like looked like there was some type of drug deal going on at this point I was like all right I'm leaving but I was kind of just seeing like okay what's going on you know I looked up the area Google said it was a very safe area crime rate was low but yet the sketchy activity was happening so he like kept getting closer and closer to my car and I just left and I remember I drove two hours that night to find another place to sleep sometimes that's what you got to do when you live in a car you got to stay safe and sometimes that means driving two hours in the middle of the night to make sure your safety is insured essentially I think the most important part of living on the road and ensuring your safety is to start trusting your gut you just get a feeling and if you get that feeling you leave no matter what do not convince yourself otherwise oh now for this scary stuff so at this point I was still my first six months living in my car I was driving to Idaho uh at this point I didn't have all the knowledge I have now um I wasn't really sure where you could and couldn't Park I was still very new things did not make sense to me um so I was already pretty stressed out thinking about where I was gonna sleep I didn't have a lot of money at the time so I didn't want to get a really expensive Campground but I didn't want to just leave on the side of the highway because it didn't feel safe it was a new place so I found this three dollar Campground um that was kind of like a pull-off no one was there like it was so Eerie literally it was like I hadn't seen anyone driving it was just this really empty place but at this point it was also like one in the morning I had been driving all day and night uh I was just really figuring it out so I was really excited to go to sleep I set up my window covers and I got in bed and I just started getting this really weird feeling but um at the time I was just like you know what you're you're just crazy you're just a little scared get over it um versus the gut feeling that we were talking about earlier um and I fell asleep and an hour later I and I had never I've never experienced anything this in my life it felt like someone had grabbed me like on my shoulders and I woke up in this panic and obviously nobody was there but I like I can't even explain to you like someone was literally holding me um and I woke up and I was like oh my God and I looked outside and you know no still no one was there just all I heard was the creek um and I was just so freaked out I just slipped into the front seat I didn't even try to do the window covers nothing like that I just left everything as it was and I drove another two hours um it was just wild it just the feeling more than anything uh it was really crazy um other than that I've been really really lucky I haven't really had anything but then again same thing with the whole gut feeling if I feel weird if it feels Eerie I'm out I have been to a few ghost towns uh but I don't get that same feeling at those places but oddly every time I'm in a ghost town something goes wrong with my car uh so we tend to avoid those but yeah okay I'm the luckiest girl on the planet oh you guys today is like a really chill day um usually I'm doing a lot of stuff but I really need to slow down a little bit so that's another thing is I'm always so on the go sometimes I want to do absolutely nothing in the same place and just play fetch with my dog go again biggest accomplishment oh the business that I've built and my ability to give back my charity project camper cares is something I'm very proud of but I'm also really really proud of my perspective through it all the second I started making money um meaning more than twenty thirty thousand dollars a year I gave most of it away I remember I made seven thousand dollars my first month that I really did good on YouTube when I launched my charity and I gave five or six thousand dollars of it away to animals it's something I always wanted to do so for me that's like a really big accomplishment and something I'm really really proud of and something that I hope to be able to spend more time doing um hopefully grow a team that can help me with my current work so that way I can spend more time on that type of stuff okay we are starting to drop in battery so my satellite internet takes about 20 to 30 percent of my house battery a day so it drops really fast you know isn't bad but when I'm planning on staying in one place for a few days I definitely have to be mindful so uh we're gonna go check on the jackery portable power station and make sure that thing is charged up I do think it's very important to have a portable power station in your rig or your home just in case I like to have the jackery for instances like this where I'm somewhere long term and don't want to drive my favorite part about it is the solar capabilities so I can recharge anywhere there is sun and I don't need to rely on anything else I highly recommend having a portable power station I personally love the jackery I've been using them for years if you are in the market for one please use the link in my description as it really does help out camper and I but also I have a permanent discount code down there for you guys so if you do want one you can save hundreds all right I am so hungry so we're gonna make some food and check on this later [Music] oh yeah here's another good one you guys always ask toilet I prefer bags versus having to carry a cassette like other people I just don't know how they do that voila okay moving on time to eat I figured that was the perfect time you know while you're eating talk about the bathroom so a lot of you guys have asked about camper is he different when he's on and off camera what was it like training him um having a rescue that I found in the middle of the desert his past life so uh I edit videos for user experience but camper was actually a very difficult dog the first year year and a half um oh I know you were absolutely amazing but you know you were difficult he's denying everything it's fine we'll talk about it anyways uh if you guys remember I found camber in the desert uh it's very likely that he had to find his own food even fight for it so during the first year camper was pretty reactive um with other dogs even sometimes with people over food and things like that so that took a lot of work I would say for the past two years we've been training at least a couple hours every single day working really hard on reactivity resource guarding and barking he barks a lot I know doesn't seem like it but he did um and finally I worked with seven different trainers now and the last one was the charm um you know every dog learns differently and we just had to find what worked for camper as you can see he's now off leash more his reactivity is a ton better even with squirrels which was the one thing that I was really nervous about because we would go on these crazy 15 20 mile hikes and if he saw a squirrel he would just Dart after it and that's why I would have to have him on the leash because he would kind of just lose his mind and not know where he was it was just one track mind and uh you know we couldn't risk losing him or worse if he went after a bear or something like that which before he would have um and now I can get him to come back and snap out of it which before took and one time it took six hours for him to come back down so I'm really proud of how far we've come but you know like anything it takes work oh so uh you are worth it you were the best thing that ever happened to me um but yeah so it's not all rainbows and butterflies but I do think I have the best dog in the entire world and it was totally worth the work first round of cleaning shall we work out um we can go play sticks downward dog all right we got camptastic with the stick Robux and I'm gonna do some booty Busters calisthenics body weight ankle weights anything you have anything that's heavy lift it pick things up and put them down and another one uh this was a great question by many of you uh how do I plan where I'm traveling um often my travels are dictated by the weather but often my travel is dictated by our my family or loved ones there uh is there an awesome hike or is there a dope swimming hole or hot spring but I also get these like really intense urges um it sounds kind of funny but like I will just be like I need red rocks and so I'll go there or I'll be like I need to see my parents and I'll just zip across the country uh in the Prius that was nice because it didn't come cost a lot but while we wait for the sun to set we are going to take a little like not a real shower like a middle of the road shower because uh it's really cold out washcloth tonight all right so while we're waiting for the water to heat up um uh next question I do get a lot of comments about timing of my videos and things like that I film all of my content three to four weeks ahead of schedule not something that has really helped me a stay safe because I have gotten threats before and my emails just really weird things from people I don't know but uh also it keeps my content flowing it takes me a week just to do one full video so I couldn't imagine always like you know being really stressed out to get things out and what if there's an upload issue so this formula is really great too because I always have one video after the other so if there is an issue I'm not worried about not getting you content every Friday so it's just how I like to run business are you ready for a shower 's ready for a shower that is better I'm gonna put this down under the heat for uh drying purposes all right favorite and least favorite place I have traveled in my vehicle uh International is a different story internationally I would say Italy every single time I go there I'm never disappointed uh least favorite like really really bummed me out three years ago when I went to Yellowstone finally when I got there I just felt so overwhelmed I felt like I was in New York City but in the outdoors everybody was shoulder to shoulder uh not a lot of respect yeah I expected so much more and I ended up literally just driving straight through uh and only stopping at like two or three little spots I personally go for outdoor settings where there's nobody around as you can see now my favorite place is to go are situational if I want to get away from everyone and really just Zen out I usually go with the opposite of everyone else like right now like I feel like 99 of people who live in their vehicles are in Baja California Mexico right now and um ah I'm in Utah but I really love the Pacific Northwest mountains um I think I'm Alpine Lakes uh Texas and Florida some Arkansas and some other places have some really beautiful Springs I love swimming oh man hot springs too gosh I think I have one favorite thing in every single state you could say your state is boring but I can tell you something amazing in every single place here's a good one I rarely drink probably like once a month and if I top out I top out like two or three not really a drinker uh don't do any drugs uh not a smoker nothing like that yeah but we are celebrating with a hard kombucha because we hit 600 000 subscribers baby that's a milestone how cool is that all of you guys did that thank you so don't forget if you're not subscribed yet and you've gotten this far please press the button because you don't want to miss our other videos whoa cheers uh I'll probably drink like half of that we're gonna keep getting ready for bed and uh see if I forgot any another frequently Asked question is what is my job um I've gone over my job history YouTube is now my full-time job um and it's a lot of work a lot of people don't realize how much work goes into these YouTube videos especially if you're someone like me who does everything on their own it's like 20 jobs in one um me personally because I really dive deep and I put a lot of work into each episode um and I'm not just talking to the camera you see a ton of stuff going on in all my videos minus this one this one's more just talking but you get my point but on that note we're gonna finish work and then we're gonna slide on into bed and take any last notes and uh catch you on the flip side just kidding you guys this is taking a lot longer than I thought three hours in so much work so Nail Time oh man you guys I feel like I'm missing some things um oh I remember one my diet uh so I'm not someone who likes to put labels on things I would say I eat mostly vegetarian kind of pescetarian I do like to limit my he's a meeting yes you told them the camper eats lots of meat and vegetables and potatoes and rice I know I'm sorry can you think of any other questions camper you know some people asked about our family I love my family I am super close with all of them you've met a lot of them in different episodes uh I have two younger sisters and two absolutely amazing parents and um I still have my grandparents around and I cannot wait to see them soon I hope my cousins I feel like I have a very close-knit family I'm very thankful for that if you guys have any other questions feel free to leave it below in the comments and the next time we do a q a round uh we will be sure to try to include as many as we can or answer them down there thank you for being here I love you all good night yep called it only had like a quarter of it oh well I don't know why I have this deep desire to like be extra dramatic but it's here question number one sometimes I just stare at him and he looks away and he looks back at me oh and we just stare at each other in the eyes lovingly camper you do you know how weird this is right you can stand on the ground he dropped it on the floor but he'd rather eat in a handstand [Music] oh yeah I'm gonna show them show them who's boss you're right okay
