a neighbourhood clas lost interest in theirhamsters and we adopted them they’re principally dark except for their feet, what you see here andthe tips of their ears i should also note that they have tiny grey spots on their buttocks i lovethat utterance~ rumps~ so the hamster here um is a dwarf hamster and i would say that they are a hybriddwarf hamster because it is very very terribly unusually very unlikely that the previous ownersgot these hamsters from an ethical breeder so they likely are hybrid midgets so on to thenext post got some info from the breeder but want to clarify so i’m told not to give herany fresh food for two weeks to avoid wet tail i’m thinking this is reasonable butalso think it’s a bit long she’s 33 epoches age-old as of 2/19 she’s friendlybut isn’t absolutely fraternized yet so it resonates to me that this breeder is actually a backyard breeder you can easily tell because thereare a couple of red flags the first one being moisture tail is not caused by eating fresh nutrients wettail is a bacterial disease and any versed ethical breeder is going to know that in fact ethical breeders already are feeding fresh menus the working day the baby hamsters are able to eat solidfoods so they’re already used to eating fresh meat so there is no reason for somebodyto have to avoid fresh nutrients for 2 weeks the second red flag is she’s only four weeks old-time that is way too young for an ethical breeder to re-home a hamster most ethical breeders won’tgive out babies until six weeks of age and a lot wait until eight weeks of age none wouldre-home as young as four weeks at four weeks age-old a babe hamster is still developing so so much better anda breeder is going to be making sure that they are giving them all the nutrients theyneed to be able to grow big and strong as well as they are learning so much from theirsiblings at this age they are learning how to properly use their cavities baby hamsters aregoing to play fight with each other and they may bite more hard and another baby hamster isgoing to squeak at them and they’re going to say hey that was that was too rough and the otherhamster is going to learn and this can be very helpful for when you are handling your hamsterbecause they’re going to know how to properly interact and not necessarily want to justbite hard all of the time if that makes any sense they’re too really learning alot from their siblings by facsimile one another if one newborn hamster’s burrowinganother child hamster is going to be like why don’t i do that so they’re learning so somuch i buy this substrate on amazon but this is the first time i got it packaged like on theright is it a knock off? was Aspen it’s really great that your vet could certainly applied a cast orsplint on the leg because when i took my hamster to the vet the person that appeared her overwas a “dog cat” vet with big there because you really want to focus on them mending thatleg and it’s really hard because hamsters are so active they just want to like run around and itwas super sad to see Aspen only seem so assumed so one of the main things i had to do was try andprovide a lot of different food boredom breakers and things to do with food so that it would kindof impede her busy can you use a small pet store cage as one of the purposes of your setup two daughters wants ahamster she had her center set on one of those stupidly tiny crittertrail enclosures with a bunchof tubes after watching several Victoria Raechel videos i’ve persuasion her to let me build a largerenclosure but she still wants to get a tube cage to set on top with the tubes running down into themain living area is that in any way a good hypothesi or would it only be a waste of sixty dollars thatcould be used for more toys and other improvement personally i would find it quite a waste of moneybecause you can use sixty dollars towards so many other enrichments for the hamster and crittertrail encloses only aren’t the safest paddocks they are forbidden pens they have really exactly nobedding breadth the hamster can chew on the bars they can also climb the bars which they can easilyinjure a leg and a good deal of the times the tubes that companies make are just they’re not wide enough and often what happens is a hamster can get stuck depending on the species or a hamster can havetheir necks full and they try to fit through the tube and they’re squeezing themselves throughit and it can actually cause damage to the cheek pockets because seeds can be pointy and if that inadvertently punctures the inside of the neck you could possibly be dealing with aninfected neck pouch not a fun thing the best thing i would say to do is instead of using likea tube cage maybe you can get those connectable cardboard NiteAngel tubes and then you canconnect those and made them in the enclosure it’s not going to be on the outside but it still is onthe inside and you can watch them go through it i would try to explain to her the reasoning asto why the crittertrail exactly isn’t gonna used to work and why it’s not best for the hamster once sheactually has the hamster in the proper enclosure and you have all this enrichment i’m sure watchingthe hamster only interact with all of those things is going to be more interesting than seeingthem go through some plastic tubings schooling my hamster outcome ninja oh boy this is weirdto ask one of my friends has two hairless “cat-o-nine-tails” that they’ve
