I'm Wesley Usyak. I'm the program director and clinical instructor for the pharmacy technology program at ISU. The pharmacy technology program is a one-year program at ISU and students have an opportunity to get a basic technical certificate or advanced technical certificate. They decide to do the advanced. That's actually I was semester longer but again generally can be done in one year. So pharmacy technician is someone who assists the pharmacist in variety of duties such as data entry, filling prescriptions, answering phones. They also do non-sterile and sterile compounding so they'll be like making ideas for making creams and ointments as well. So I asked you was a great choice to becoming a pharmacy technician because you're getting the training Hands-On in a lab setting, it takes 1 year to complete, and on top of it we're training you for not only just like a retail technician like someone like that maybe Bangel Pharmacy or Fred Meyer, but we're also trading you for someone to be like working in a hospital setting.

So that would be like a Bingham Memorial or even a portneuf medical center in this area. The job outlook in Southeastern, Idaho and even like Idaho beyond right now is going to grow anywhere from 10 to 20% within the next six years and that's provided by the Department of Labor. My placement rate at this point. We're at about a 92-95 percentage right now. Whether students either go on the job and again become a pharmacy technician or they continue on with school.

My message to them would be that one you are going to be working with myself that has 20 years of experience in the field and that as long as you're willing for to put forth the effort I put forth the effort to you. I'm not going to spoon-feed you my program. But as long as you are willing to work, I'm going to work for you too..
