Read Time:3 Minute, 9 Second

Its the last day of the Robo-Subchallenge and the teams are weighing in their subs for the finals. They mustnt exceed the maximum weight restriction. How heavy is it allowed to be? 75 I conclude or 70 kilos. 75 I remember, maximum heavines. If the subs are too heavy the teams lose spots. Its to ensure a level playing field, astheyre probably bundling extra sensors. The guidelines are strict but everyone gets a fairchance. Cambridge is back in the scoot after the judgesgave them one last-place attempt to qualify. Youve characterized. Cambridge has been working late trying todebug its software. Ensta Bretagne is starting off the day insecond place and unafraid of the race. Weve been coming here multiple times, theyve been coming here multiple times, this is why we see their projects derive. And it is a competition I know however do alsowant to see things attained because its interesting for us and its all in goodspirit, its truly all in good spirit. No matter what the score, everyone takes homeplenty of practical experience.NATO too benefits from interacting with studentswho are forced to be innovative and resourceful due to their restraint plans. But the main goal for the Alliance is to encouragemore young people to seek business in engineering and research. Tamara shares this goal and particularly wantsto encourage more maidens. I know that in my class “were gonna” 12 percent girl, so thats not much and the numbers are going down. So I encourage all the women because itsa lot of merriment and plus you can meet a lot of boys! Tamara and her crew are up next. Its time to show the judges that theirsub can track a gas pipeline and follow a hide wall autonomously.Time remaining is 24 minutes and 34 seconds! Once again its a race against the clock. The AUV is searching for the underwater pipelineautonomously but the visibility is particularly bad today. The grapevine is emblazoned luminous orange andthe AUV is programmed to be recognized that colour with its downward facing camera. Il cherche. Its looking for it, it cant find thepipeline. Meanwhile Cambridge is analysing its attemptat moving the pipeline. They saw it but failed to track it the wholeway. Again its simply a matter of timing, says Ralph. Ultimately its down to testing time. To get software which offices truly reliablyyou need a long time to test it. And this year we decided not only to createnew software but to build a completely new vehicle called Barracuda. And so that intended the vehicle was only readyfor the software to test on a couple of days ago. At last-place the Ensta Bretagne sub looks likeits on to something. We are performing the pipeline followingand the referees say its going well, so were happy right now. The challenge is to complete all the tasksin 30 instants without surfacing. Ok the next step. What its going to do is its going toredo wall-following, go back to get to the buoy. The Ensta team manage to complete all undertakings, but the competitor is strong. Its now up to the judges to tally up thescore. In the end Cambridge receive the engineeringaward for its brand new sub. Ralph and his teammates swear to return with bettersoftware next year. Ensta Bretagne finish in third place, justbehind the University of Luebeck and this years winners Ecole Technologie Superierede Quebec. Well we ceased up being third and werevery happy with this position because honestly the other teams were really wonderful. Sonia the winning team really deserved it, so were happy. Finally the organisers announce that nextyears race will be open for cooperative AUVs to help spur the development of swarmtechnology.
