[Pfeiffer] What I enjoy about
my job is genuinely, absolutely, absolutely is I am developing the following generation of public health professionals. I help the PHAP
program or else recognized as the Public Wellness
Affiliate Program below at CDC. What I mostly do, is
I supervise area staff. Individuals that work within the PHAP
program are newly graduated or fresh to the public
health field and it'' s a training program. We employ them for 2 years
with CDC and we put them out in the area
where the need is.One of the important things I really
encourage them to do is to be familiar with the flavor of the
city they'' re living in. Learn what Miami resembles Discover what Kansas is like.
and also truly get the flavor because that'' s going to allow you to discover what the people are like. What this program does, it provides you that possibility to obtain your feet wet. To obtain front-line experience and to see a client, to touch a person, to have a client shout at you. To knock on a door. To really obtain your boots on the ground. That'' s what PHAP is all about. That to me is really opening up their eyes to public health and wellness and also ideally their eyes and also their mommies and their dads and their close friends and they can really discuss to people “” this is what public wellness is””. They'' re going to obtain my
empathy, they'' re going to get my sincerity as well as they'' re. mosting likely to be primarily taught exactly how to be the best public health.
expert they can. I'' m Heidi Pfeiffer as well as I am CDC!.
