[ ding][ airplane devices] Hey chaps! My name is Nicole, and I’m onthe Customer Advocacy Team at Scott’s Cheap Flights. Along with Google Flights, Momondo is one of Scott’s Cheap Flights’ favorite flight search engines. Noteveryone is familiar with Momondo, so we decided to put together this pros andcons roundup, as well as a tutorial. You can find our in-depth Google Flightsguide here or in the specific characteristics below. The good about Momondo is that itsearches just about every single online travel agency, or “OTA”, as we like to callthem, out there: “the worlds biggest” ones that we’ve all are aware of, like Expedia andOrbitz, or the smallest, relatively recent ones like Fareboom and Exploretrip.Because it scours all OTAs rather than simply a few, Momondois much more likely than Google Flights to find the cheapest possible cost forany devoted flight. Not always, but in about 98% or so of cases, itwill find the cheapest expenditure.[ booing interferences] The bad about Momondo is that the searchesare gradual … real slow. Make impression considering how many OTAs they’researching at once. Plus, unlike Google Flights, you can’t do flexible datesearches. If you want to find the cheapest flight for a given route in thenext 3 month, you’d have to search every single day inthere. If you have any flexibility in your dates, it’s normally better tostart your searching in Google Flights, find the best appointments, and then carry thosedates over to Momondo. You can watch our video about employing the two in tandemright here. Okay, okay, okay, I know why you’re really here. You’re thinking, “Scott, ” or “Nicole, are these OTAs genuinely trustworthy? I readsome questionable recollects online and I’m worried that I’m gonna get scammed.” Thisis a common and important question. The short answer is that if you’re worriedthat some OTA is gonna take your fund and not give you the ticketsdon’t be.The longer answer is that most OTAs are able to offer these reallycheap menus because they’re skimping on customer support, and they’re alsoimposing actually high-pitched conversion/ cancellation fees. If you’re quite confident in yourdates and you don’t think you’ll be needing customer support afterpurchasing, it could be worth the savings. Of track, if you are still feelingunsure or awkward, it might not be worth the risk, andit may simply be worth the peace of mind only to book instantly with the airline orwith a major OTA. Now we are currently in the Momondo home page and I’ve alreadyput in my difference and destination.I’m flying from Chicago and going toGuatemala. I’m too gonna throw in my dates now, because Momondo doesn’t currentlyoffer the option to search flexible appointments. So, I’d like to go in the summer.I’m just gonna ringlet to June and let’s do the 16 th to the 23 rd. All that’s leftis to click “search”, and this can take up to 60 seconds with Momondo. You can watchyour search progress right here, and when it’s done, it’ll look like this: “searchcomplete”. Now with Momondo, you can’t customizeyour likings before the search, but you can after. If we look over here onthe left, we can filter for stops and we can also change the flight duration, which is a great way to avoid long layovers. We can filter for what time ofthe day we depart and what time of the day we return, and if we scroll downfurther we are capable of filter for airline. If you’d like to change theticket class, whether it’s business or first class, you can do so simply below thesearch forbid here. You is gonna have to do the search over again if you do choose tochange ticket class. Something that oftentimes gets forgotten is the “see allresults”. Costs are frequently quite same to the top outcome, although theycan vary in timing and superhighway, so why not sounds “see all results” and take a lookfor yourself. So I’m first given the option to look at the cheapest nonstopflight, but if I preserve moving down, I can see other ones that are reallysimilar to the firstly result I saw before.I know that some of these are actuallynot better than the first cause, and that’s for a few different rationalizations. Firstof all, I’m keeping an see on the total flight duration. 29 hours done a lot, evenif you’re going to Guatemala. I’m too looking at stops. Of trend I would lovea nonstop flight, but since it’s out of my budget, I’m willing to stop just once, not twice. Lastly, I’m keeping an heart on the smileyor not so smiley face. This rating shows the balance between the average flyingtime and the price of the ticket, so I know my first ensue is probably my bestbet, exactly because they did rank a 5.5. And if I want to book I can merely sounds “goto site”, and that’ll take me straight to Justfly, but if I’d prefer to bible withanother online travel agency, or “OTA”, as we like to call them, I can go ahead andclick on “see details”. Once here, I can go ahead and click on “show all bookingsites”, and then I’m taken to a huge list of on-line travel authorities. Lastly, I wantto talk about “major US carrier”. What’s up with that? Sometimes when you sought for flights on Momondo, instead of seeing theairline name or the logo, you ascertain “major US carrier”. Airline have complicatedagreements with various OTAs offering running rebates based on schedule, superhighway, and other factors. In some instances, airlines are willing to give asmall added discount to OTAs on unsold posteriors so long as the carrier isnot made public. What’s more, even though Momondo says it’s a major US carrier, infact, oftentimes it’s not even a US-based carrier. Luckily, there’s an easyworkaround to discover the true airline’s identity when it’s shrouded in riddle: liken planneds! In essence, you just have to look at the flight day of themajor US carrier flight, scroll down and find the exact same flight with theactual airline listed.Because they have the same precise flight era, we can deductthat the major US carrier is Lufthansa,[ gavel clanged] and so that’s a mystery answered!
