PANOLA COUNTY, Texas (KTAL) – Residents have evacuated their homes in the area of a gas pipeline explosion in Panola County until authorities can ensure it’s safe to return, according to the sheriff’s office.
It happened around 11:30 a.m. along US 59 North in Grand Bluff north of Carthage.
There are no reports of any injuries.
Deputies reportedly went door-to-door Wednesday morning urging residents to evacuate their homes as a precuation until the pipeline company could get on site and confirm the gas pipeline is shut in.
The sheriff’s office says the evacuations are precautionary until the gas line and any potential leaks are confirmed to be completely contained. US 59 is also shut down, along with FM 1794, both east and westbound.
In addition to the sheriff’s office, Texas DPS, TxDOT, and the Beckville Fire Department are on the scene.
